Edelstein (Ruby Red) Trilogy Review!!

I love talking about this trilogy!!!, I read this books between 2011 and 2012, and I re read them about a week ago.
I'm talking about the Edelstein Trilogy of Kerstin Gier, an awesome german writer. The saga is formed, if you lived in a hole and do not know yet, by Ruby Red, Sapphire Blue and Emerald.

The first time I saw Ruby on sell was in a coffee shop, very famous in Mexico, and it didn't really , attracted me,  because of the cover, the cover of the spanish version, for me was to grey and sad, so I didn't even think about buying the book. But later on, on the web I happend to found the german cover, and that art I loved, it is an awesome cover, so I ran back and get Ruby Red. I don't regret at all. It is an extraordinary book, full of fantasy, and love and advenures. Because of its awesomeness it has been published in so many countries, so, you must read them.

But first come first, maybe you will fall for this books with my review.

RUBI

This blurb is been taken from the english version:

Well, well it seems the blurb says it all, right? So why  to read it if you know all the plot already. But there is so much and so many adventures in this book, beyond the obvious that, again, you can not miss.

The story is set in London, which, like all novels set in London, gives it a mysterious and dense environment. Gwen is wonderful and friendly, this book is told in first person, Gwen tell us her story and all its adventures and does it in a so unique way that it will grab you from the start. Gwen is a 17-year-old student at a prestigious high school, is not the smartest of the class, not the least appreciated, is just a normal girl, which is happens to see ghosts and daemons or gargoyles (the spirits of the gargoyles guarding the ancient buildings), she has a best friend, Leslie, who is gossipy, daring, playful, intelligent, loyal, and the relationship between them is stronger than steel, honest affection. James is another good friend of Gwen, a sixteenth-century ghost that lives in her school, a guy who has not yet realized that he is dead and passes shocked by the behavior of boys and girls in school, every encounter with it is pure fun.
Gwen's family is like any other family, but if we add that in a single multi-story house, there are living, a grandmother, an great aunt, two unmarried sisters beyond their forties, their  sons and daugthers, three of one, and one of the other, and a cryptic and mysterious butler, and add to that,  hyper strict grandmother, great aunt has visions, a granddaughter sees ghosts, and other granddaughter, could or not be a time traveler. Pff is madness, situations, fun, tangled, jealousy, cries, jokes, fights, are given on each page, always have something to tell, or some mystery to discover. All the characters are very well written, each has its importance and you get to know them perfectly.
Finally there is Gideon, there has to be a hottie, right?, is a bit arrogant for me, but in this part of the series, we come to understand that there is a reason behind his attitude, he is self confident and handsome and has many skills . Despite his attitude, you come to love him and like Gwen confuses you with his actions.
This book end is a cliffhanger, and it will left you with so many questions, so surely you will run immediately to Sapphire.

ZAFÍRO

We discover not only the secrets of the lodge, but also the ones in Gwen's family. In love everything is give and take, that the only thing that leaves us is with a very broken heart.

Here we come to the end of this delightful story, I love the time travels and how they can confuse you, the comings and goings, and how they know in the future whether or not you traveled to the past but have not done so yet, and howin the past is the same Count of Saint Germain the one planning when and how is that you should travel to the past from the future, are you confused??, well that's the whole book, which I loved and almost makes you think about taking notes, is wonderful. In this book Gwen gets help from his grandfather, who is a young clueless guy in the past. And thanks to him and his eclectic group of friends, Leslie, James, Xemerious, Gideon's brother, Raphael, and maybe a little of Mr. George, a man who is part of the Vigilant; Gwen unveil the mystery surrounding the Circle of Twelve, why  her cousin fled 17 years ago, and understand the importance of rescuing the world from the terrible plans of Count of Saint Germain. Will she defeat him without risking her loved ones?, We then read the book to find out!

As you may have noticed, I loved these books, they are full of fantasy, action, romance, comedy, mystery and time travelers!, What else can we ask. Really if you wish to read something you must not miss them, and if you think you are too old to read stories like this, well no, you aren't.

This series has been so successful internationally, that, in Germany (country of origin of the books) is already being film the first movie, which will hardly reach Latin America, but I think that Hollywood, will seek to do the American version. My Thoughts on 50 Shades of Grey...

First of all if you're under 18, please go and read any other review of this blog, I recommend the one of Black City, and if you are interested in reading 50 Shades of Grey, think two, three or even four times before doing it, better go read the Ruby Red trilogy, the best books I've read since Harry Potter's.

I had decided not to write anything about 50 Shades of Grey, because I think that the more we talk about it, the more popular it will become and this will grow this phenomenon that I would rather call monster, ha, but some friends have asked me about it, so we can call this a community service.
I want to clarify something, everyone has the right to think or feel whatever you want about a book, so if after reading this review you still want to read, that's perfect, because I'd love to get your feedback. There are tastes for everything and there is probably a large market who will like this book. I just didn't like it.
I read this book when it was still a fan fiction called Master of the Universe, starting with the name and it goes badly, who dares to be named like that???, I was curious and read it, because it was a Twilight fan fiction, another track proving this book wasn't  going well, I mean, I really liked the Twilight books, but let's face it, is not the best literature we have read, not nearly. What did E.L. James did?, well she grabbed Bella and Edward, she distort them a little (or maybe a lot) and transported to a world, I would like to say sex, drugs and rock & roll, but no, that would have been fun, and this book is not funny at all, so let's say she transported them to a world of sex, submission and sadomasochism.
The story is very poorly written, the lead vocal is an eternal monologue of the girl in question, which never allows the reader to get into the story, we always just spectators.
Bella, as it was called in the fan fiction, or Anastasia, as it is called in the book already published, is an insecure girl, immature, and somewhat disturbed, all the time thinking of herself as another person, which indicates a serious personality problem. She had never had any kind of intimacy, is kind of told that she has never explored her own body. Of course she is beautiful and curiously all men around her fall for her, for her tremendous stupidity and lack of charm. Its told she is very smart and applied, but it never really shows.
Edward / Christian, is a man with personality problems caused by childhood traumas (this situation is soooo bad situation treaty that will need another post). What's all his appeal?, Well, he is described as  the most handsome man in the universe, ultra millionaire, who pilots an helicopter,sails a yacht, launches in parachute, plays piano and cause so much respect (fear) that their employees can not even see him straight to the eyes. It is rude, tyrant, dominant, and treats Bella / Ana like some kind of puppy, and because all this qualities she falls completely surrendered to his feet, and I mean that literally because in the  very first scene they know each other, she falls headlong into him, what a cliché.
In my opinion someone should have paid a dictionary to E.L. James, constantly read phrases like: Oh My, I whispers, she whispers, we whisper, my inner goddess, I have Never Felt This Way Before.
Arg! Once read maybe not that bad, but she says  that so many times that if I read inner goddess one more time I will pull away my eyes, well not that much, but it is for you to understand how much I hate that phrase. The blissful inner goddess is the alter ego of Ana or subconscious or who knows, who keeps leaping, jumping and spinning each time she has an orgasm, because, yes! Despite it is her first time and although she was one hundred percent unexperienced, she had orgasms, a lot.
Ana constantly think Christian is terrible and crazy, and is ays afraid of him and of being beaten, but justifies him by saying that he feels not worthy of being loved, so she clings to him and accept he as he is, even if it means engaging in a sadomasochistic relationship in which she is always afraid. I mean, if a couple decides to experience or live the SM is perfect as long as they both agree, they enjoy it and not harming others. Again I must be honest, I do not know thoroughly the culture of submission and SM, however I have read reviews of those who practice this type of culture or sex, and say they are upset because the writer aboard it in a wrong way, I repeat these are comments I've read on other blogs and websites, unaware of the SM culture could not be sure.

Sub plots exist in the book, which serve only to fill between a sex scene and other, and they are so much that the sub plots get completely lost.
The sex scenes, well  apart from being highly repetitive  in dialogue, and involving fetishes and punishments, are not that bad, they're good, descriptive and sexy, but they are so many, and so constant that they bored, every fight takes to sex, every time she does something and he does not like it they have sex, every meal leads to sex, every .. well I think you understand. And then it becomes, bored, tired, tiresome, and as Homer Simpson said "boooooring."
They have called this book Mommy Porn, saying that this pornography is for moms and housewives,  offends me! Being myself a mom and a housewife, I did not like the book and do not like that they include me in that market. There are thousands of writers who are dedicated to writing historical erotica, romantical erotica, pagan erotica supernatural erotica and so on., And who have spent years doing it, if you want to read porn erotic, there are thousands of books much more recommended that the book in question, it is like in the movies, just because it is pornography it shouldn't be bad  directed or written.

Here I am aproaching to the conclusion, as I feel that I stretched over than what this book deserves. Good for E.L. James, she manage to became a published writer and this is a win for anyone who achieved it, good for those who read or will read this book, as long as they are aware that it is a BOOK, and are aware that it is not okay to be controlled, battered and physically and mentally abused just to keep a man happy and that submission and masochism is fine as long as you both agree.
Wrong, because unfortunately many many young girls are reading this book and could be confused and think that this is the right way to deal with their sexuality, and many youngsters who would get to read this book, may be confused and think that this is the right way to treat women. And this is sad.

Because loyal to the truth if we take away Christian Grey's beauty and the hundreds of millions, he is no more than a very perverse, cruel and rude man that abuse of an unexpirienced silly girl.
Good if you read for fun, bad if you think that this is how things should be.

Reseña Trilogía Joyas Preciosas de Kerstin Gier

Hablar de esta saga me encanta!!!, Lei estos libros a finales del 2011 y principios del 2012, los volví a leer hace una semana.

Hablo de la Saga Joyas Preciosas de Kerstin Gier, una fabulosa escritora alemana. La saga esta formada, por si has vivido en un agujero y aun no los conoces, por Rubí, Zafiro y Esmeralda.

La primera vez que vi Ruby a la venta, fue en el area de libros y revistas de un conocido restaurante/cafeteria de unos Buhos, y la verdad no me llamo para nada la atención pues la portada parecía muy triste e insipida, así que pase de largo y fui por algo mas. Vaya que me perdí de un excelente libro y todo por culpa de su portada. Posteriormente encontre su portada original alemana en la red y me atrapo, me encanto el arte de esa portada, y entonces si fui corriendo por mi libro; no me arrepiento!!! Es por eso que mas adelante haremos un analisis de todas las portadas con la que esta saga ha sido publicada alrededor del mundo, por que si, son tan maravillos, magicos y fantasticos que han sido publicados en una gran cantidad de países, ergo, no los puedes dejar pasar.

Pero primero lo primero, tal vez logre enamorarte de ellos con mi reseña.

Hablaremos pues del primero en la saga:

Pues vaya que parece que el blurb lo dice todo, no?, como para que leerlo si ya sabes de que va. Sin embargo hay tanto y tantas aventuras en este libro, mas alla de lo obvio que, insisto, no lo puedes dejar pasar.

La historia esta situada en Londres, lo cual, como todas las novelas situadas en Londres, le da un ambiente misterioso y denso. Gwen es maravillosa y simpática, el libro nos es contado en primera persona, Gwen va relatándonos su historia y todas sus aventuras y lo hace de una manera tan excepcional que te atrapa desde el primer momento. Gwen es una chica de 17 años que estudia en un colegio de alto prestigio, no es ni la más lista del salón, ni la menos apreciada, es solo una chica normal, que tiene la peculiaridad de ver fantasmas y daimones o gárgolas (los espírutos de las gárgolas que vigilaban los antiguos edificios); tiene una mejor amiga, Leslie, que es chismosa, atrevida, juguetona, inteligente, leal, y la relación entre ellas es más solida que el acero, un cariño honesto. James es otro buen amigo de Gwen, un fantasma del siglo XVI que habita en su escuela, un tipo que aun no se ha dado cuenta que ha muerto y se la pasa escandalizado por la conducta de los chicos y chicas de preparatoria, cada encuentro con él es pura diversión.

La familia de Gwen, es como cualquier otra familia, pero si sumamos que en una sola casa de varios pisos, viven, una abuela, una tía abuela, dos hermanas solteras más allá de los cuarentas, con sus hijos, tres de una, y una de la otra, y un mayordomo críptico y misterioso; y que la abuela es hiper estricta, la tía abuela tiene visiones, una nieta ve fantasmas, y otra nieta, podría o no viajar en el tiempo. Pff es la locura, situaciones, divertidas, enredadas, celos, gritos, bromas, peleas, se dan en cada pagína, siempre tienen algo que contarnos, o algún misterio que descubrir. Todos los personajes están muy bien escritos, no parece que ninguno este de relleno, cada uno tiene su importancia y los llegas a conocer a la perfección.

Por último esta Gideon, y es que claro no podía faltar el galán, es medio patán para mi gusto, aunque en esta parte de la saga, llegamos a comprender que hay un motivo detrás de su actitud, es creído y guapísimo y tiene muchas habilidades. A pesar de su actitud, llegas a quererlo y al igual que Gwen te confude con sus acciones.

Este libro termina muy emocionante, y mas que encontrar respuestas te llenas de más dudas, lo cual hará que corras inmediatamente a Zafíro.

ZAFÍRO

He aquí el blurb:

Gwen vive en una nube ¡con Gideon!, Aunque es muy consciente de que el amor entre dos viajeros en el tiempo puede guardar sorpresas traicioneras. Por suerte, tiene muy buenos consejeros: su mejor amiga Leslie, su compinche, James el fantasma, y Xemerius, una gárgola que se mete en bastantes líos. Además Gwen y Gideon, tienen problemas más importantes de los que ocuparse... Por ejemplo, salvar al mundo. O aprender a bailar un minué (que no es nada sencillo). Vamos junto con Gwen y sus amigos, descubriendo los misterios que rodean a la logia de los Vigilantes de los Viajeros en el tiempo. Conocemos mejor a el Conde Saint Germain, un hombre malvado y maipulador. Vemos como los secretos no solo los tienen los de la logía, sino también la misma familia de Gwen.  En el amor todo son tira y afloja, que con lo unico que nos deja al final es con un muy roto corazón.

Aquí les dejo la sinopsis, y luego mi breve reseña:

Gideon está en grave peligro y su única esperanza es Gwen... aunque ella ya no confía en él.

A Gwen no le hacía ninguna ilusión ser la última viajera en el tiempo, ni tener que saltar al pasado para cerrar el Círculo de los Doce (que, además, es tan secreto que ni lo entiende), ni enfrentarse a enemigos dispuestos a acabar con su vida. Prefería quedarse con su vida normal y corriente: instituto, amigas y algún chico de vez en cuando. Sin embargo, cuando conoció a su compañero de viajes, el encantador Gideon de Villiers, la cosa se puso muchísimo más interesante... ¡y surgió el amor!

Pero ahora Gwen está destrozada. Acaba de descubrir que todas las atenciones del chico eran sólo una estratagema ideada por el oscuro Conde de Saint Germain y cumplir él solo la misión. Pero la jugada no le salió bien y ahora se encuentra en manos de un nuevo enemigo: una Sociedad Secreta infiltrada en casa de los De Villiers dispuesta a acabar con los viajeros en el tiempo.

Aquí llegamos al desenlace de esta deliciosa historia, a mi me encantan los viajes en el tiempo y como te hacen pensar, las idas y venidas, y como en el futuro ya saben si has viajado o no al pasado aunque aun no lo hayas hecho, y como en el pasado el mismo conde es el que esta planeando cuando y como es que deberas de viajar al pasado desde el futuro; se confundieron??, bueno así es todo el libro, la cual me encanto te hace pensar y casi casi tomar notas, es maravilloso. En este libro Gwen recibe ayuda, de su abuelito, que es un joven despistado en el pasado. Y gracias a él y a su eclectico grupo de amigos, Leslie, James, Xemerious, el hermano de Gideon, Raphael, y tal vez un poco de Mr. George, un señor regordete que es parte de los vigilantes; Gwen develara el misterio que rodea al Círculo de los Doce, entenderá por que su prima huyo hace 17 años; y comprenderá la importancia de rescatar al mundo de los terribles planes del Conde Sainte German. Logrará derrotarlo sin arriesgar a sus seres queridos?; vamos pues lean el libro para descubrirlo!!

Aquí hemos llegado al final, como habrán podido notar, amé estos libros, estan llenos de fantasía, acción, romance, comedia, misterios y ¡Viajeros en el tiempo!, que mas podemos pedir. De verdad si están buscando que leer, no se los pueden perder, y si se sienten muy mayores para leer historias de este tipo, dejenme les digo que no!, nunca serán demasiado mayores para ninguna historia.

Esta saga ha tenido tanto exito internacionalmente, que en Alemania (país originario de los libros) ya se esta filmando la primer película, la cuál dificilmente llegará a America Latina, pero no dudo que Hollywood, busque hacer la versión americana. 50 Shades of Grey, mi opinion.

Primero que nada si eres menor de 18 años, por favor, ve a leer cualquier otra reseña de este blog, te recomiendo la de Black City, y si estas interesad@ en leer 50 Shades of Grey, piénsalo dos, tres o hasta cuatro veces, mejor ve y lee la saga Ruby Red, los mejores tres libros que he leído después de Harry Potter.


Si continuas leyendo es por que aceptas tener mas de 18 años.


Había decidido no escribir nada acerca de 50 Shades of Grey, en especial por que entre mas se hable del tema, mas popular será y ayudamos a que crezca este fenómeno al que mas bien yo llamaría mounstro, ja!, pero algunos amigos me han preguntado al respecto, así que llamemos a esto un servicio a la comunidad.

Quiero aclarar algo, cada quien tiene derecho a pensar o sentir lo que quiera respecto a un libro, así que si después de leer esta opinión aun lo quieres leer, eso esta perfecto, pues me encantaría conocer tu opinión. Hay gustos para todo y probablemente hay un gran mercado a quien este libro le guste. A mí en particular, no, no me gusto.

Yo leí este libro cuando aun era un fan fiction llamado Master of the Universe, empezando por el nombre ya vamos mal, quien se hace llamar a sí mismo así???, sentí curiosidad y lo leí pues era un fan fiction de Twilight, una pista mas de que este libro no iba por buen camino; quiero decir a mi me gustaron mucho los libros de Twilight, pero aceptémoslo, no es la mejor literatura que hemos leído, ni de cerca. Que hizo E.L. James, bueno pues agarro a Bella y a Edward, los distorsiono un poco (o mucho tal vez) y los transporto a un mundo de, quisiera decir sexo, drogas y rock&roll, pero no, eso lo habría hecho divertido, y este libro no es en absoluto divertido; así que dejémoslo en que los transporto a un mundo de sexo, sumisión y sadomasoquismo.

La historia esta muy mal escrita, la voz principal es un eterno monologo de la chica en cuestión, lo cual nunca permite al lector meterse en la historia, siempre somos simplemente espectadores.

Bella, como se llamaba en el fan fiction, o Anastasia, como se llama en el libro ya publicado, es una chica insegura, inmadura, y algo trastornada, todo el tiempo piensa de si misma como si fuera otra persona, lo cual nos indica un serio problema de personalidad. Nunca he tenido ningún tipo de intimidad, nos hacen insinuaciones como que ni siquiera ella misma a explorado su propio cuerpo. Naturalmente es bonita y curiosamente todos los hombres a su alrededor caen rendidos a sus pies, por su tremenda estupidez y falta de encanto. En la historia nos hacen referencia a que es muy inteligente y aplicada, pero en verdad nunca lo demuestra.

Edward/Christian, es un hombre con problemas de personalidad causados por traumas de la infancia (esta situación esta taaaaan mal abordada que necesitaría otro post). Que es lo único que tiene de atractivo?, bueno lo describen como el ser mas guapo del universo, ultra millonario, que pilotea un helicóptero, navega un yate, se lanza en parachute, toca el piano y causa tanto respeto (temor) que sus empleados ni siquiera pueden verle directamente a los ojos. Es grosero, rudo, mal educado, tirano, dominante, y trata a Bella/Ana con la punta del pie; obviamente y debido a todos estos atractivos ella cae completamente rendida a sus pies, y lo digo también literalmente pues justo en la primera escena que se conocen ella cae de bruces contra él, vaya cliché.  

En mi opinión alguien debería haberle prestado un diccionario a E.L. James, pues constantemente leemos frases como: Oh My, he whispers, she whispers, we whisper, my inner goddess, I have never felt this way before.

Arg!! Leídas una vez quizá no es tan malo, pero lo dice tantas veces, que si vuelvo a leer inner goddess seguro me saco los ojos, bueno no tanto, pero es para que entiendan cuanto detesto esa frase ya. La dichosa inner goddess es el alter ego de Ana o subconsciente o yo que se, que se la pasa dando brincos saltos y piruetas cada que tiene un orgasmo; porque, si!! Desde su primera vez y aunque era cien por ciento inexperta, tuvo orgasmos, muchos.

Ana constantemente piensa que Christian es terrible y esta loco, y siempre tiene miedo de él y de ser golpeada, pero lo justifica diciendo que él es así pues siente que no merece ser amado, sentimiento causado por sus traumas de la infancia; así que ella se aferra a él y a aceptarlo tal cual es, aunque esto implique involucrarse en una relación de sadomasoquismo en la que ella siempre tiene miedo. Quiero decir, que una pareja decida experimentar o vivir el SM esta perfecto, siempre y cuando ambos estén de acuerdo, lo disfruten y no implique daños a terceros. Aquí también debo ser honesta, desconozco a fondo la cultura de la sumisión y el SM, sin embargo he leído comentarios de los que practican esta cultura o tipo de relaciones sexuales, y dicen estar molestos pues la escritora lo abordo de una manera por demás incorrecta; reitero estas son opiniones que leí en otros blogs y paginas, al desconocer la cultura SM no podría asegurarlo.

Existes sub tramas en el libro, que no sirven más que para relleno entre una escena de sexo y la otra, y son tantas, que las sub tramas se pierden por completo, no maduran y no llegan absolutamente a nada.

Las escenas de sexo, bueno digamos que aparte de ser sumamente repetitivas en los diálogos, y de involucrar fetiches y golpes, no están tan mal, son buenas, descriptivas y sexis, sin embargo son tantas, y tan constantes que aburren; cada pelea lleva al sexo, cada cosa que ella hace y a él no le parece lleva al sexo, cada comida lleva al sexo, cada.. bueno creo que ya entendieron. Y entonces esto se vuelve, aburrido, cansado, fastidioso, y como decía Homero Simpson “Aburridoooo, me abuuurro”.

Le han llamado a este libro Mommy Porn, pues dicen que es pornografía para mamás y amas de casa, acepto que esto me ofende y mucho!!! A mi que soy mamá y ama de casa, no me gustó y no me gusta que me incluyan en ese mercado. Hay miles de escritores que se dedican a escribir erótica histórica, erótica romántica, erótica pagana, erótica sobrenatural y etc.,  y que llevan años haciéndolo, si quieres leer porno erótica, hay miles de libros mas recomendados que el libro en cuestión, y es que pienso que al igual que las películas, no por ser pornografía deberían estar mal hechas o escritas!!!

Aquí ya voy a concluir, pues siento que me extendí más de lo que este libro merece. Bien por E.L. James, se volvió una escritora publicada y eso es un triunfo para cualquiera que lo logre, bien por quienes lean este libro, siempre y cuando tengan en cuenta que es UN libro, y que estén conscientes de que no esta bien ser controladas, maltratadas y abusadas física y mentalmente solo para mantener feliz a un hombre y que la sumisión y el masoquismo esta bien siempre y cuando ambos estén de acuerdo.

Mal, por que desafortunadamente muchas muchísimas jovencitas, están leyendo este libro y podrían confundirse y pensar que esta es la forma correcta de abordar su sexualidad, y muchos jovencitos que podrían llegar a leer este libro, podrían confundirse y pensar que esta es la forma correcta de tratar a las mujeres. Y esto es tristísimo.

Porque honestos a la verdad si a Christian Grey le quitamos lo guapo y los cientos de millones, no queda mas que un ser muy perverso, cruel y grosero, que abusa de una chica tonta e inexperta.

Bien si lo lees por diversión, mal si crees que así es como las cosas deben ser.
